Introduction
What Chalky is and what it does.
Welcome to Chalky
Chalky is a mobile climbing journal. You log a session, add the climbs you did, and it keeps the lot: grades, attempts, notes, photos. Gym bouldering and long trad days go in the same place.
Why Chalky?
Offline-First Design
Chalky works without an internet connection, so you can log a climb at a crag with no reception at all. Everything syncs on its own once you're back in range.
Built for Climbers
Every climbing session is different. Chalky supports:
- Bouldering — Track your V-grades and flash rates (indoor or outdoor)
- Sport climbing — Log redpoints, onsights and projects (indoor or outdoor)
- Trad climbing — Record your gear-protected sends
- Ice, mixed, aid, free solo, scrambling — Specialty disciplines for the full range of climbing
For roped sessions you choose a rope style per route (lead, top rope, or auto belay). Top rope isn't a discipline on its own.
Statistics
Once you have a few months of sessions logged, Chalky can show you:
- Grade pyramids showing your send distribution
- Success rate tracking by discipline
- Session frequency and duration trends
- Personal bests and milestone tracking
